I tried it and found out that I made a mistake at the beginning, namely not the pomegranate once in the middle as shown in the video, but scratched the segments like an orange.
It is best to “soften” the pomegranate from all sides with a mallet before scoring it in the middle or roll it around vigorously.
Then, with a little effort, cut the pomegranate in half and knock out the seeds over the attachment and container with a vigorous hammer.
Works reasonably well.
At first I thought that the pomegranate had to be bred for this method of removal, but this is not the case.

Fantastic way to de-seed pomegranate! The wooden mallet really isn’t heavy enough to do the job so I use my stainless steel meat hammer – still totally worth the money!!

This part is perfect for removing the pomegranate seeds. The fruits can be opened and pitted well – even very well – with the included mallet! Then flood the bowl with water and the remaining skins can be skimmed off easily. Perfect to use!
